A modernization service, not a tool. Four gated stages, fixed price each.

How an engagement runs

Pricing

Fixed price per stage.
Evidence before the next one.

Most boards have watched the all-in bet fail once. Staged commitment is how the next proposal clears a much higher bar.

The model

Nobody wants to fund a rewrite on faith

Every all-in proposal asks you to commit the whole budget before anyone knows whether it works. After that happens once, the next proposal gets read far more carefully.

01

Big-bang rewrites burn years

Multi-year commitments made on faith rarely survive contact with the actual codebase.

02

Sunk cost keeps them alive

Once a rewrite has eaten two years of budget, funding it again is easier than admitting it stalled.

03

Boards will not leap twice

The second proposal gets read far more carefully than the first one did.

04

Standing still is also a bet

Doing nothing does not avoid the risk. It defers it, at a higher price, to next year.

Stages

Four standalone, gated commitments

Each stage is quoted once the one before it has delivered its evidence, so the number you approve is based on what was found rather than what was estimated.

  1. 01

    Assessment

A read on the stack and how well it suits modernization, a scoped plan, the risk list and the success criteria. Useful on its own even if you stop here.

  2. 02

    Specification

The rules, flows and behaviour your engineers and your agents need in order to change the code safely, extracted and written down properly.

  3. 03

    Modernization

The scoped change itself — code, services, APIs or migrated work — delivered in stages you can watch rather than wait for.

  4. 04

    Enablement

Playbooks, training, test suites and a queryable knowledge base, so the system keeps moving after we are gone.

Stage one

Assessment

Fixed scope · typically 2–4 weeks

A snapshot of the stack and its modernization fit, a scoped plan, the risk list and the success criteria. Yours whether or not you continue.

Stages two to four

Specification, Modernization, Enablement

Priced per stage · scoped from the Assessment

Quoted once the stage before has delivered its evidence, so the number you approve reflects what was found rather than what was guessed up front.

In their words

What the engineers said afterwards

The part I did not expect was how much of it was people, not software. Their engineers sat with ours until the undocumented rules were actually written down.

Questions

About pricing and scope

Yes, and plenty of teams do. The plan, the risks and the success criteria are yours either way. That is the point of gating each stage separately.
At a fixed price, agreed before the stage starts. No open-ended time and materials, and no mid-engagement scope discovery that changes the number.
Because pricing it earlier would mean guessing. The Assessment produces the map that makes an honest number possible, which is why it is the only stage quoted cold.
Validation evidence is delivered at every step inside the live customer workspace, so the work is checkable as it happens rather than reviewable at the end.
No. Migralith delivers it. It is a product-enabled service, not a methodology document you roll out internally.
